What does 501(c)(3) pending actually mean for my membership payment?

The membership page says recognition is pending. Does that change whether my payment is deductible?

    While the application is pending there is no advance assurance of deductibility. Keep your receipt — if recognition is granted, it applies from the filing date, and your documents in Receipts & tax documents already carry the status language that applied when you paid. Please consult your tax adviser for your own situation.
